For the epic period drama series The Heir (AVROTROS / NPO 1), directed by Diederik van Rooijen and adapted from Alexander Münninghoff's bestselling memoir, Drone Department captured grand cinematic aerials. The series chronicles the dramatic multi-generational saga of the Münninghoff family spanning World War II, Soviet-era intrigue, and post-war Netherlands.

Deploying DJI Inspire cinema drones with full-frame prime optics, our crew filmed sprawling historical estates, battlefield reconstructions, and atmospheric vintage convoys. The aerial footage integrated flawlessly with ground-based ARRI cinema cameras.

The fluid, large-format camera movements enabled the director to visually articulate the expansive scale of 20th-century European history alongside intimate personal drama.
