De Patrick (Award-winning feature film)

For the critically acclaimed feature film De Patrick, directed by Tim Mielants and starring Kevin Janssens, Drone Department provided poetic and atmospheric aerial cinematography. Set within a naturist campsite tucked into the rolling hills of the Belgian Ardennes, the tragicomedy swept major honors including Best Director at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and 5 Ensor Awards.

Using our DJI Inspire cinema platform, we executed slow, contemplative tracking shots gliding above lush pine canopies, morning mist, and the secluded campsite. The aerial perspectives visually reflect the protagonist's profound existential grief and peculiar search for his lost hammer.

Our dual-operator workflow allowed the Director of Photography (Frank van den Eeden) to fine-tune delicate framing and lens movement to match the film's deadpan, melancholic visual language.
